Plant diseases can be divided into noninfectious (abiotic) diseases, which are not contagious, and infectious (biotic) diseases, which are caused by living organisms and can be spread from one plant to another.
Each noninfectious disease problem can affect many kinds of plants, while each infectious disease tends to affect only a few kinds of plants.
